“Together Again”
G. Mack Kellerstrass
OGDEN – On Saturday, May 10, 2008, our father, Gordon Mack Kellerstrass, 90, left this life to be with his loving wife for Mother’s Day.
Dad was born at home in Nephi, Utah to Karl and Sarah Leah Kendall Kellerstrass on August 29, 1917. He began work at an early age helping with the family business known as Grains of Gold which later became Malt-O-Meal. He also worked in the trucking business with his brothers for a time.
He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II.
Mack married Pearl Avery Upton on March 17, 1939. Their marriage was blessed with three daughters and they celebrated 68 years together before Mom’s passing on September 20, 2007.
He was Vice-President of Kellerstrass Brothers, a business he owned and operated with his brothers. He retired in April of 1984 after 36 years of service. He served as past president of the NDTA (National Defense Transportation Association).
Mack enjoyed working with his sons-in-law after retiring. He and Mom traveled extensively during his work years and continued that with their family for many years. In his later years, he enjoyed gardening and was an avid Jazz fan right up until his death.
Surviving are three daughters, Peggy (Ray) Bowden, Kathy (Steve) Everett, Boni (George) Nourse, eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Pearl, his parents and brothers.
