Gail E. Larsen, husband, father and grandfather, graduated from this earth on April 3, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on September 5, 1938, to Eugene Comish Larsen and Virginia Marcelle Hoefler, in Preston, Idaho, he moved to Cub River, Idaho and lived with his aunt and uncle when he was 3 ½ years old and stayed with them until the age of 11, when he ran away with only a camo sleeping bag and the clothes on his back he lived in the River Bottoms of the Cub River and stayed there until his friend Larry Porter found out and asked his parents if he could live with them for a while. He stayed with the Porter family for a short amount of time but knew he needed to find a job to make money and provide for himself. He moved from farm-to-farm working as a ranch hand until age 17 when he decided to come to Utah and had plans to then go to Montana and work on another ranch. Ogden, Utah was where he met “the best thing that ever happened to him”, Diann Eskelsen at the old Paramount on Washington Blvd.
Gail and Diann were married on Jun 22, 1957. Gail was 18 and Diann was 16. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple. They were married 52 years when Diann passed away on January 22, 2010.
Gail was a Master Contractor and worked as foreman for Lee K. Hansen and Olson Construction before starting his own business Gail E. Larsen Construction, where he built almost every house in the central Roy area. He lived in Roy, Utah for 66 years in the home that he built. Gail did not have an easy life, but it was a life where he learned the true meaning of hard work, honesty and integrity, which he lived every day of his life, he was a fighter and a survivor.
He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served in the Bishopric, High Priest group leader and was a devoted and dedicated Home Teacher.
Gail is survived by his son Gene (Sue) Larsen, Hooper and daughter, Kathy Larsen, West Haven, seven grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren, one sister and one brother.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, two granddaughters, one great granddaughter, two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South Roy, Utah. Friends and family may call on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m. and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., prior to services, at the mortuary.
Interment, Hooper Cemetery.
