Gail Hoppie Pack, 72, passed away suddenly March 12, 2009, after a valiant five month battle with pancreatic cancer.
She was born December 27, 1936, in Boise, Idaho to William H. Hoppie and Verla J. Blackburn Hoppie. Her younger years were spent in Boise and Waco, Texas.
Her family moved to Utah when Gail was 13 years old and lived near Liberty Park. She graduated from South High School and attended the University of Utah and studied Home Economics. She was called to be a missionary in the West Central States mission. She served in Butte, Montana and spent many months in the mission home in Billings, Montana doing bookkeeping.
She married Ivan P. Pack on December 15, 1961 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Gail operated her own drapery and interior decorating company for over 30 years and loved sewing. She taught window treatments at BYU Campus Education Week for 10 years and taught adult education drapery classes at Bountiful High School.
Gail was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and has served for many years in the Relief Society and Young Women organizations of the Church. She loved her latest calling of sharing time storyteller for the Primary children. She also served at the South Davis Hospital Branch and as a Humanitarian Service Room Supervisor and Temple Patron. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers—Orchard Heights Camp and enjoyed the Bountiful Library Book Club. She was a Trustee of the Panorama Road Corp and loved her cabin in Mountair Canyon. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to wear crazy hats to cheer up everyone around her.
She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Ivan, daughter Leslie (Eric) Rossi, son Leland (Sharon), son Martin (Kazumi), daughter Nicole Pack and 10 grandchildren whom she loved dearly: Tarrin, Dylan, Brit, Halie, Connor, Lauren, Andrew, Abigail, Sylvia and Tyrell. She will be remembered for her Grandma parties. Also survived by sisters Barbara (Dale) Brimley, Joan (John) Ogden, Janis Williams, and brothers Bart (Sheila) Hoppie, Lynn (Marian) Hoppie serving in the Santiago Chile Temple. She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family expresses their thanks for the tender care she received from Dr. Kimberly Jones, Nicole Orgain and nurses at the Huntsman Cancer Institute and the doctors and nurses of the Lakeview Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 11 am Monday March 16, 2009 at the Bountiful 54th Ward, 540 N. 1200 E. Friends and family may call Sunday March 15 from 6-8 pm at Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. and Monday 9:30-10:30 am at the church prior to the services. Interment Bountiful Memorial Park.
