Gale Leonard Christensen

September 17, 1923 — October 22, 2024

West Haven

Gale L. Christensen, age 101, passed away October 22nd, 2024, with his daughter and son-in-law at his side at their home.

He was born on September 17, 1923, in Moore, Idaho to James Christensen and Lillie Jeppesen. He grew up on a farm in Harper Ward, Utah and attended schools in Brigham City, Utah.

Gale married Nelda Johnson on July 24th, 1942, in Malad, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple.

He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII as a crew chief on C-47 aircraft. He retired from Hill Air Force Base. He worked as a finish carpenter and was very skilled. He could fix anything and was willing to assist anyone needing his expertise.

Gale has two children, Randal Christensen and Cathleen Taylor (Lynn). He is also survived by six grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and his wife Nelda.

One of the highlights in his later life was going on Honor Flight with his son-in-law.

He loved the Utah Jazz and enjoyed keeping up with all their games, even at age 101. He loved eating cookies every day. Even at his late age, he still loved hearing about each grandchild and great-grandchild’s endeavors. His memory never failed him.

A special thanks to Caregiver Support and especially David and Marrianne for their compassionate care.

A private viewing and graveside service was held with military honors.
