Garnett Leona Aurich

Garnett Leona Aurich passed away November 16, 2013 at the age of 103 in Clearfield, Utah at the home of her son, Jimmie Aurich, who was primary caregiver for the past several years. She was born November 3, 1910 in Big Springs, Nebraska to Loren Dell Root and Blanche Viola Steward Root. She was married to Carl C. Aurich March 17, 1930 and celebrated their 73rd anniversary prior to his passing. After joining the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints they and their four sons were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple.

She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. Her happiest times were when her children and grandchildren came to visit her. She was deeply loved by them. She was generous, kind, loving, understanding, compassionate, and caring. She was loved by all. She was a faithful member of the Church and served in many callings. She had a tender heart and performed countless acts of compassionate service. She did much genealogy and temple work. She had a long and eventful life, having lived in many different places, most recently in Grants Pass, Oregon prior to moving to Utah. She was always resilient and positive in spite of enduring challenging hardships. She has left a profound legacy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, son Donald (Gaylie), her parents, and siblings Gertrude Crona, Donald Root, and Dayton Root. She is survived by her sons, Jimmie (Diane who recently passed away), Floyd (Joyce), and Jerry (Sandra), along with 16 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank her nurse Queenie Aydelott, the home health aides, Doctor Bruce Burtenshaw who so lovingly cared for her over the years.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 22, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Clearfield 2nd Ward Chapel, 1245 S. 1175 E. Friends may visit family Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Clearfield City Cemetery.
