Enid Garvene Faux Garrett
Our loving mother Enid Garvene Faux Garrett passed away peacefully on June 3, 2017 at Fairfield Village in Layton, Utah. She had just celebrated her 90th birthday with her family. Garvene was born on May 16, 1927 in Ajo, Arizona the daughter of George Washington Faux and Lora Geneva Bailey. She lived in Moroni, Utah most of her youth and graduated from Moroni High School where she was elected Seminary Vice President, Student Body Vice President, and Prom Mistress. Garvene then attended Snow College where she received her Associates Degree. She married the love of her life, Marcus Blackett Garrett, on September 4, 1947 in the Manti Temple. In nearly 70 years of marriage, Garvene and Marcus were blessed with six children, 25 grandchildren, and 37 great-grandchildren with several others on the way. She dedicated her life to loving and serving her family and also gave freely of her time, talents, and leadership as she served in various capacities in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. These included the Primary, YW’s presidency, Relief Society President, a temple worker for many years, and as a full time missionary serving in the Leeds England Mission. She was also her husband’s biggest supporter throughout his coaching career. Garvene was proud to be a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and a member of the Variety Ann Club.
To her family’s delight, Garvene was a fabulous cook. Many a neighbor and friend were also blessed by meals that she would provide in time of need. She loved preserving the produce harvested from a large garden that she and Marcus would tend each year. She was a dedicated daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be greatly missed.
Garvene was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, John and Robert, and one sister and brother-in-law, Rita (Gayle) Rasmussen and granddaughter Tamree Allen. She is survived by her husband, Marcus, her children Marlene (Gerry) Allen, Gaylen (Leann) Garrett, Loralee (Chad) Reid, Lynn (Linda) Garrett, Phil (Kenna) Garrett, Larry (Stephanie) Garrett, 25 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and sisters-in-law Udean (John) Faux and Ella Mae (Robert) Faux, and many nieces and nephews, all who loved and revered this special woman.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the West Point Utah Lakeside Stake Center, 855 N. 4000 W., West Point, Utah. Friends may visit family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Syracuse City Cemetery.
