Gary Allen Cosmo Young

Gary Allen Cosmo Young, 84, passed away on December 3, 2021, at the Ogden Regional Medical Center. Gary was born in Ogden, Utah on April 25, 1937 to Harve Brigham Young and Leona Marie Kehmeier. Gary attended Ogden High School where he was selected as one of five outstanding Cadets of Reserve Officers Training Corps. Gary also attended Weber State College in Ogden.
He married Bonnie Alta Robinson on April 23, 1964, and they were later divorced. A son, Quin Cosmo was born from this union.
Gary married Cheryl Ann Schofield on May 4, 1973 in Ogden, Utah. They renewed their vows on May 23, 1999 at St. James the Just Catholic Church. Cheryl passed away July 19, 2009.
Gary was a faithful member of the Catholic Church. He joined the “Knight of the Holy Sepulchre” in 2009 and attended all of the annual meetings.
He worked for Admiral Beverage Company as a sales specialist from a very young age until his retirement.
Gary served in the United States Army during the Korean War in which he was honorably discharged. He served as President of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, was a member of the Ogden-Weber Chamber Spikers, donated to numerous charities and provided endless hours of service. He was the Chairman of the “Festive Follies” for St. James the Just Catholic Church for many years. Gary enjoyed traveling with both family and his church, gardening, ribbon cuttings and organizing events.
Gary is survived by his son, Quin; grandson, Chayton; sisters-in-law; Goddaughter, Lindsay; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Pat and Val Simonich, Lane McPheters and John and Toni DeHerrea for their special friendships and care for Gary during his years of poor health. Also, a special thank you to Judy Spinden for her continued care of Gary’s beloved companion Nugget.
Friends and family are invited to attend services in Gary’s honor. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 10, 2021 at 11 a.m. at St. James the Just Catholic Church, 495 North Harrison, Ogden, UT. Friends may visit with family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. with Rosary at 7 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
