Gary Arthur Brown, born on September 4, 1944, in Tacoma, Washington, passed peacefully on April 6, 2025, in Ogden, Utah. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, he leaves behind a legacy of love and commitment to family.
Gary proudly served his country in the Air Force as a Sergeant, an experience that instilled in him values of dedication and community service. His professional journey as a Design Engineer for the Utah Department of Transportation showcased his expertise and his unwavering commitment to improving the lives of others through infrastructure.
He graduated from Jefferson High School in Jefferson City, Missouri, and later attended Lincoln University in the same city. Education was important to Gary, and he valued lifelong learning, which he demonstrated through his work and participation in community activities. His involvement extended beyond his profession; Gary contributed greatly to his community by serving on the Farr West Planning Commission for 4 years and volunteering countless hours at the Salvation Army, where he fed the homeless.
Gary had a warm personality, known for his ability to tell a good joke, bringing laughter and joy to those around him. He loved his family deeply, cherishing his time spent with them. The bonds he formed with his family were treasured, and he was dedicated to being present in their lives.
His hobbies included golfing, fishing, and bowling, which brought him great pleasure. He also served as a bingo caller for 17 years in Yuma, Arizona, where he often shared his vibrant spirit with many. Additionally, Gary was musically inclined, playing the trumpet in the Salvation Army Band, showcasing yet another facet of his character.
Gary is survived by his loving wife, DyAnn Kimose Brown; son, Troy Leath (Suzanne) Brown; daughter, Ragan Brown (Kim) Hall; 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Kenneth (Marie) Brown of Florida; and sister, LaVina Eickoff of Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents.
In remembering Gary, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love, humor, and a spirit dedicated to family and community. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 14, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Monday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
