GARY DEAN COURTNEY

November 25, 1947 ~ April 25, 2017

God received my hero and angel on the 25th of April 2017. Gary was a confident, courteous and loving gentleman. Gary was born to Donald and Margaret Courtney in Ontario, Oregon on November 25th 1947. Gary was a graduate of Roy High School in 1966, where he excelled in academics and football.

He loved the outdoors where he spent many winter seasons hunting ducks, geese and other waterfowl, and was a member of the Bayview Duck Club. Gary was proud of his accomplishments, proudly serving his country in the U.S. Army; graduating with a degree in history and anthropology from Weber State University; working as a civilian at Hill Air Force Base as an equipment supervisor, followed by a joyous retirement after 38 years of service; and most of all, being a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Some of Gary’s other hobbies included riding his motorcycle, bicycling, fishing, golfing, camping, barbecuing, family travel, holiday celebration, handy work and gardening. His loving family surrounded him at the time of his death.

Gary leaves behind his loving wife Sheila Courtney of 45 and a half years; his loving children Carrie Reed (Russ Reed), April Barrett (Patrick Barrett) and Jason Courtney (Hope Courtney); his grand-children Braxton Reed, Madison Reed, Taylor Reed, Boston Barrett, Courtney Barrett, and Shane Courtney; his mother Margaret Courtney; his siblings; extended family members; in-laws; and friends. He was preceded by his father, Donald Courtney and younger sister, Christy Courtney.

Memorial services will take place on Sunday, May 7th, 2017 at 2:30pm at Our Savior's Lutheran Church located at 5560 S 2300 W, Roy, UT 84067.

In lieu of sending flowers, Gary would appreciate you donating money to the American Lung Cancer Association.

Arrangements entrusted to Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary.
