Gary Lee Faulk passed away January 30, 2017. He was born April 3, 1935 in San Francisco, California to Grace and Ken Faulk. His family moved to Paonia, CO; Reno, NV; and back to Paoni where Gary lived until going to Young, AZ to work in the mining industry with his father. It was there he met his first wife Carole Jackson.
Gary joined the U.S. Air Force in 1955 and was stationed at Portsmouth, New Hampshire. He married Carole and they had a daughter, Dolores Diane (DeeDee). Gary served 20 years with the U.S. Air Force and lived in numerous AF bases in the states and overseas in England and Thailand. He and Carole later divorced.
Gary retired after 20 years in the USAF at HAFB in 1975. It was here that he met and fell in love with Barbara Stuart. With their marriage he became a father to six more children, Steven Schroader, Danny Schroader, Lori McLain, Star McLain, Mark McLain and Melinda McLain.
Gary drove trucks after he retired from the Air Force. After awhile he went to work as a civil service employee at HAFB and retired after 21 years.
On March 7, 2010 he lost his eternal companion Barbara. After Barbara died, Gary bought a motor home so he could travel. He wore a path from Layton, to Manila, to St. George and then reversed it and started over again. On November 6, 2015 Gary had a stroke. He spent the last of his life at the Southern Utah Veterans Home where he stole the hearts of the staff and fellow veterans.
Surviving are his seven children, DeeDee (Jim) Brick, Steven Schroader, Danny (Laurie) Schroader, Lori Nye, Star (Tim) Nicholls, Mark McLain, Melinda (Sean) Gibson, daughter-in-law, Wendy McLain, brother, Phil (Sue) Faulk, sister, Bonnie Gudeman, best friend, Kay Bennett, 18 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
