SOUTH WEBER a€" Gary Grant Fitzgerald, 66, peacefully returned to his Heavenly Father on Friday, July 4, 2008 at his cabin. We rejoice in his return to his Heavenly Father and the family members who have preceded him.

Gary was born June 1, 1942 in Provo, Utah, where he was raised by Melvin Grant Fitzgerald and Maxine Mortensen Fitzgerald. He was then raised in Springville, Utah where he met his childhood sweetheart, LaDean Rees. They married on August 19, 1960. Gary was then sent off in the Army to aid in the Berlin Crisis from December 1960 to April 1963.

Gary and LaDean spent the next years raising their three great sons, Guy, 42; Greg, 39; and Glade, 37. They have made their home in South Weber over the last 35 years. Gary retired from Hill Air Force Base, where he served as Minute Man I and Minute Man II Supervisor from March 14, 1965 to March 31, 1993. Gary then was able to enjoy retirement, golfing every chance he had.

Gary''s hobbies included hunting, fishing, 4-wheeling, traveling, and spending time with his wife and family at their cabin. Gary loved and adored his grandchildren, who will never forget playing tag, "you''re it!", with Grandpa. He lived for his wonderful wife of 48 years and his 9 grandkids.

Gary is survived by wife, LaDean; and sons Guy (Carol Ann) and their children Brandon, 13, Heather, 7, Hunter, 5, and one on the way, in Preston ID; Greg (Michele) and their children Tena, 13, Tawnie, 11, Tavis 8, Torie, 6, of South Weber; and Glade and son, Forest, 13, of Salt Lake City. He will also be missed by his three brothers and their families, Mark (Kathy) and Craig (Debbie), Anchorage, AK; and Keith, Salt Lake City.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 10, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the South Weber LDS Chapel, 1401 E. South Weber Drive. A gathering of family and friends may call on Wednesday, July 9, 2008 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd. and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd., where military honors will be accorded.
