Gary Watson Halverson

November 11, 1933 ~ July 24, 2018

“Together Again”

Gary Watson Halverson passed away peacefully on July 24, 2018.  Gary was born November 11, 1933 in Ogden, Utah, to Marlowe Halverson and Hilda Tomlinson Halverson.

Gary graduated from Weber High School in 1951 and went on a Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to Norway.  After successfully completing his missionary calling, he married Mary Bunderson in 1956 in the Logan Temple, and was promptly drafted into the Army, spending most of his service in Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

Gary was a former co-owner and business operator of a family plumbing business, then went on to spend most of his career as a Piping Superintendent on many major Power Plant installations throughout the West, along with building and re-fitting major cereal plants throughout the Midwest. Gary was always in demand for his construction supervisory skills. If it could be built, he could build it.

Always an avid hunter and fisherman, Gary spent many hours with his children outdoors riding horses and making memories. After his retirement, Gary and Mary were called on a mission to Nauvoo, IL during the re-building and re-dedication of the temple there.  Gary held many church callings in the ward and stake throughout his life, and successfully fulfilled all of them. He would always say “Called to serve, serve till the end.”

Gary is survived by his sons Michael Halverson (Jodi), Kirk Halverson (Betsy), daughter Sherry Kerbo, and brother Phillip Halverson. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Mary, his brothers Dale Halverson and Ronald Halverson, and his sons Scott Halverson (Vicky) and Jeffrey Halverson (Claudette). Gary and Mary have 18 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
