Gary B. Hansen

Beloved husband and father, Gary Barker Hansen returned to his heavenly home on August 17, 2018. Gary was born on October 4, 1935, in Ogden, Utah to Clarence James Hansen and Lena Barker Hansen.
Gary served honorably in the US Army, and following his discharge, served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Great Britain.
Gary married Helen Ure in the Los Angeles Temple on September 7, 1962. He was the father of four children. He loved the outdoors, and enjoyed taking his family camping, fishing, and hiking.
He had a passion for education, graduating with a B.S. and an M.S. in Economics from Utah State University. He earned his Ph.D from Cornell University in Industrial and Labor Relations, and was a Fulbright Scholar at the London School of Economics.
Gary had a successful career at Utah State University as a Professor of Economics and Management and Human Resources. He consulted for the U.S. Department of Labor and several international organizations, working in a number of countries in Southeast Asia and Central and Eastern Europe.
Gary was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving on the USU Student Stake High Council and in two bishoprics. He held additional callings at the ward and stake level in the North Logan 1st Ward and North Logan, Utah Stake.
Gary is survived by his wife Helen, three daughters, Ann Marie (David) Proctor, Janet (Kyle) Robson, Karen (Bryan Kresie), 7 grandchildren, and his sisters, Cleone and Nancy. He was preceded in death by his son Mark, and his sisters Lenore and Lois.
The family expresses their sincere appreciation to the team from Intermountain Hospice who cared for him so well--especially Russell. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the LDS Church Missionary Fund or to a charity of choice.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at the Colonial Springs LDS Ward, 2360 N 600 W. Harrisville, Utah. Friends may visit family from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N Washington Blvd., and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery, 526 E 2850 N, North Ogden, where military honors will be accorded.
