Gary O. Lund passed away Sunday May 25, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family at the age of 77. He was born in Ogden, Utah to Raymond E. Lund and Annie Mae Densley on November 16, 1936.

Gary married Janna Rowland on May 2, 1957, they were married for 57 years.  He graduated from Ogden High School where he excelled in football and baseball. He graduated from Utah State University where he played baseball for the Aggies, and was an all conference lineman for the Aggies football team.

Gary was a man of few words, which is rare for a person as accomplished as he was.  Few people knew what a natural athlete he was and that he was drafted by the Baltimore Colts in 1958, but instead chose to work and raise his young family. His love for sports later lead him to be a self-taught golfer, winning several club championships and making two hole-in-ones. Gary later developed a love for fly-fishing and enjoyed many fishing trips with his sons and made several trips to Alaska where he caught many steelhead. Gary worked at Thiokol/ATK for 34 years working in operations as a manager on many defense contracts and NASA's Space Shuttle Booster Program.

He deeply loved his wife and was completely devoted to Janna. He was a wonderful father who taught his children a great sense of responsibility, commitment, honesty and hard work. He will be greatly missed.

Surviving are his wife, Janna; three children, Greg Lund (Shelly) Wasilla, AK; Brad Lund (Valea) Auburn, WA; Lezlee Smith (Bob) Layton, UT; eight grandchildren, Alex, Andrea, Sam, Leah, Madison, Rachel, Zane, Ali.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Virginia Anderson; two brothers, Ray Lund and Darrell Lund.

Graveside services will be held Friday May 30, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park 4500 Washington Blvd. Friends may call on Thursday May 29, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquists Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
