BOUNTIFUL - Gary R. Muir, 74, beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Friend passed away unexpectedly, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at Lakeview Hospital in Bountiful, Utah.
Gary was born on June 5, 1934 in Ogden, Utah to Kenneth Earl and Belva Rees Muir. He was raised in Randolph, UT and later married his sweetheart Kay Maurine Willmore on June 5th, 1956 in the Idaho Falls Temple. They started their life together as Gary earned his college degree in Chemical Engineering from Brigham Young University. Six children entered their home and have had their lives blessed by his love and example.
Gary was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and recently served a mission in Nauvoo, IL along with his eternal companion Kay and their special daughter, Melissa. Gary enjoyed a distinguished career with Hercules, Inc. where he was a well respected business leader. His passion and dedication to his career was only surpassed by his conviction to his family and his beliefs. Gary always made his family his top priority and his example and his memory will continue to live within them.
Gary loved spending time with his family especially in the outdoors. He could often be found golfing or fly-fishing and enjoyed spending the summers at his home in Star Valley, Wyoming. Gary tried to never miss his beloved BYU Cougars football or basketball games where he has been a season ticket holder and loyal supporter for many years.
He is survived by his wife Kay; children Lynn (Lynette) Muir, Ken (Kim) Muir, Dan (Aja) Muir, Kim (Jim) Guymon, Julie (Mark) Singleton and Melissa Muir; thirteen grandchildren (Brittany, Kylie, Zac, Brayden, Tessa, Eric, Sean, Andrew, Stephanie, Thomas, Tiffany, BreAnn, and Kayla), one great grandchild (Bryton) ; sisters Marcia (Ron) Tippetts, Pam (Brian) Mottishaw and Vicki (Russell) Elliott. Preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held 11 am Monday October 20, 2008 at Lindquist''s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. where friends and family may call Sunday October 19 from 6-8 pm and 9:45-10:45 am prior to the services. Interment, Lakeview Memorial Cemetery.
