Gay Wood Gren

Gay Gren, age 85, passed away Friday, February 23, 2024 after a brief illness.

Gay was born September 20, 1938 to Wallace and Beatrice Wood. She married Vern Gren

August 21, 1959 in the Salt Lake City Temple. Gay was a kind, gentle soul and will be greatly

missed by all who knew her.

Gay spent her childhood in Orem, Utah where she spent her time riding bikes with her sister,

picking fruit in the local orchards and buying the 5 cent Twinkies from the area market. She

loved telling that story whenever we visited Orem. She graduated from Lincoln High School and

then attended Stevens Henager Business School in Salt Lake City, Utah. Vern and Gay settled in

Bountiful, Utah where they raised their five children.

Gay was an avid knitter and worked for many years at the Spinning Wheel. She loved teaching

others how to knit or cross stitch. When the Spinning Wheel closed, she continued to meet at

the library to knit, teach and enjoy being with others who loved to knit. She also loved to meet

with the other ladies who worked at the Spinning Wheel for their monthly luncheon and was

excited to see at the last one she was able to attend this past December.

Gay was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Gay is survived by her children: David, Cheryl, Kevin, Terry and Jennifer and two grandchildren, Ryan and Haley.

She is also survived by her sister Marjean Wood and her niece Angela Dennis (John). 

Gay was preceded in death by her husband Vern, her parents and her granddaughter Wendy Luker.

The family would like to thank the caring medical professionals who took care of Gay during the

past several years, enabling her family to keep her at home for as long as possible.

Funeral services will be held 11:00am, Friday, March 1, 2024 at the Bountiful Tabernacle, 51 S.

Main. Friends may visit family Friday, March 1, 2024 from 9:00 to 10:30am at the Church prior

to the services. Interment Bountiful City Cemetery. Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Bountiful  Mortuary.
