Gay Aleen Mitchell

Gay Aleen Mitchell, 86, died Tuesday, August 15, 2023 in Bountiful Utah.

Gay was born October 16, 1936 in Fillmore, Utah to William Hampton and Amina Aleen Simons Mitchell. She attended school in Fillmore, graduating from Millard High School. Gay spent a short time in Fillmore working as telephone operator before spreading her wings and enrolling for higher learning at Brigham Young University In Provo, Utah. She spent two years enjoying the college life before she received a call to serve a mission. She served a two year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in France. After her mission she returned to BYU to complete her teaching degree. She taught 5^th and 6^th grades at Rose Park Elementary in Salt Lake City, Utah for 25 years. After retiring from the rewarding career of teaching, she enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. She spent much of her time making her nephews and nieces happy. They all loved “Aunt Gay”. The love of her life was Family History. She spent many, many hours connecting families so they can be together forever.

Gay is survived by her sister Dianne Amina Mitchell Broadhead (Edward), her brother William Dean Mitchell, nephew Thad Donavan Broadhead (Tamera) Tiffany Ann Broadhead Allred (Eric), Tamera Dawn Broadhead Chugg (Mark). Also eight great nephews, 4 great nieces, 5 great-great nephews, 6 great-great nieces. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, her sister Jackie Mae Mitchell Wigginton, her brother-in law William Robert Wigginton and 2 nephews, Tige Andrew Broadhead and William Joseph Wigginton.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.at the Lindquist Bountiful Mortuary at 727 N. 400 E. Bountiful, Utah. Friends may visit family Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and  Saturday prior to services from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment-Salt Lake City Cemetery.
