GAYLA S. WIXOM

1934-2024

Gayla Swenson Wixom passed away on January 30, 2024 in Clearfield, Utah. She was born on January 4, 1934 in St. Charles, Idaho to Charles Leon and Emma Delila (Bulloch) Swenson.

Gayla grew up in Idaho. There she met the love of her life, Reed George Wixom and they were married on February 10, 1952 in Paris, Idaho. They were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple on May 12, 1964.  Together they had one son and three daughters.  Later, they moved the family to Layton, Utah where they spent many wonderful years raising their children.

Her love for children led her to work at a day care center, where she gave her undivided attention and tender care. She enjoyed reading, and doing needlework, but her passion was being able to spend time with her grandchildren.

Gayla is survived by her son, Gary (Janet) Wixom; and daughters, Gaylynn (Kay) Christensen, Sherrill Sabey and Rita (Jay) Clark; 9 grandchildren, Lance Wixom, Jamie Stetler, Heather Boren, Tad Christensen, Brandon Christensen, Rory Christensen, Shawn Sabey, Derek Wixom and Candace Neal; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers, one sister and her grandson, Ryan Christensen.

A Graveside Service will be held at 12:00 noon, Thursday, February 8, 2024 at Ovid Cemetery in Ovid, Idaho, 83254
