Gayle Joyce Glass Gayle Joyce Glass, 65, passed away peacefully and comfortably in her sleep on April 15, 2013, after a long battle with cancer. Gayle loved life with her fiery spirit which shone ever brighter in the last years of her life. She was born in Jasper, Georgia, but grew up in Ogden, Utah, and attended Ogden High School. After graduation she worked at the Ogden School for the Deaf and Blind as a nurse’s aide. Not long after, in 1969, she married Leland J. Williams and together they moved to California and started their family. During her life in California, Gayle raised 3 children, Jared, Johna and Andrea Williams. Gayle loved her kids and showed it every day and especially on their birthdays by making them their own specially designed birthday cakes that she would decorate; she was so artistic. She would also make her children Halloween costumes and dresses for church. Gayle was also an avid gardener and tended her garden nearly the whole year round. Gayle loved the church and served many callings from teaching in Primary to being a Den Mother for the ward’s Cub Scouts. In 1992, Gayle moved to Oregon with her two daughters to be with her mother. A few years later she purchased a fixer-upper house in South East Portland. Her experience of physically working on her own home was both trying and rewarding for her. This time in her life strengthened her spirit and testimony of Christ; since she didn’t and couldn’t have finished the house without the help of the local ward who, until they arrived, had never met Gayle. During Gayle’s time in the Portland-Vancouver area, she worked at Deseret Industries. In 2006, she returned to Ogden to be closer to her family, particularly her grandbabies. She was so loved and is survived by her children: Jared “Scott” Williams (Maria), Johna Lee Williams and Andrea Alice Williams; 7 grandchildren; stepmother, Floriene Glass; brothers, Alan Glass (Colleen) and Jake Glass (Dana); and sisters, Robynn Solinger (Michael), and Lauri Young (Wayne). She was preceded in death by her parents, Patty Christensen and Tillman Glass, and two sons, Sean and Jason Williams. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
