Preceded in death by her parents Rodger and Mildred Howey, sister Shirley Cook, brothers Rodger Howey and Craig Howey. Survived by daughter Sonni (Erik), grandchildren Tyler, Gracie, and Emma, sister Barbra Shelton and brother Scott Howey.
Gayle leaves behind a legacy of love, care, and a fierce devotion to her family. A strong single mother, Gayle raised her beloved daughter, and best friend, Sonni, with unwavering love and support. Throughout her life, Gayle found fulfillment in her calling as a mom and as a grandmother. Family was paramount to Gayle, and she took great joy in spoiling her 3 grandchildren. Spending quality time with them as much as possible, they all became best friends individually in different ways. Gayle is the epitome of unconditional love, and we all loved her the same.
Spending time and creating memories with her family was Gayle’s first priority. She enjoyed lunch dates with her daughter, sleep overs with her grandkids, painting, gardening, movies, long Sunday drives, the Beach Boys, coke-a-cola and simply having quality time with her people. She also shared a passion for nice cars, a trait inherited from her father. A woman of strong faith, Gayle was a proud member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, finding solace and strength in her spiritual beliefs, and sharing the gospel to her family.
Gayle's love for life and sense of humor extended till the end, bringing joy to those around her with her infectious enthusiasm.
Gayle faced a long and courageous battle with an autoimmune disease. During this time, her daughter willingly stuck by her side as her primary caregiver though out the duration of Gayle’s sickness. Known for her independence, and caregiving nature, Gayle dedicated her life to the well-being of others, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those she touched.
Although we are broken-hearted for the loss of such an amazing spirit, we feel peace in knowing she is relieved from the limitations of her sickness. We are so grateful to have shared this life with her, and she will be missed more than we can put into words.
In honoring Gayle's memory, let us celebrate the vibrant spirit and selflessness she embodied. She will be dearly missed but forever remembered as a pillar of strength, love, and compassion. Graveside services to celebrate Gayle's life will be held on Wednesday, January 3rd, 2024 at 1:00pm, at Memorial Lakeview Cemetery, 1640 E. Lakeview Dr. Bountiful, UT.
