Gene Earl Mohr (Age 87)
Our loving Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Friend and Papa Gene Earl Mohr, age 87, passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2021, at George E. Wahlen Veterans Home. Gene was born on March 22, 1934, in Canova, South Dakota, the son of Earl Mohr and Anna Reichling Mohr.
In 1954, Gene enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served in Supply Chain Management. While stationed in Japan, Gene met his sweetheart and forever love, Sumiko “Sue” Yoshida (Mohr). She proceeded him in death in 2001. Gene did not remarry, as their love was irreplaceable.
Gene was a devoted member of the Catholic Church and served various ministries from being an usher to the Knights of Columbus.
Gene shared equal and unconditional love for all he met. The phrase “never met a stranger” does not begin to describe his ability to connect with everyone and quickly turn them into family. His greatest reward in life was sharing a joke and laughter with everyone he met. He taught us all to love thy neighbor and to be kind to all from every walk of life.
He was our patriarch, our mentor, our hero. His love of God and Country were only rivaled by his love for his parish, friends, and family. He will be greatly missed by all those that had the pleasure to call him a friend.
Surviving family included his daughter Helen (Mohr) Gorman and son-in-law Frank. Grandsons: Ben Gorman, Andrew Gorman and Brent Gorman and his great grandson and God Son Lucas Gorman.
