“Together Again”
Gene LeRoy Rohwer, 78, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 4, 2013. He was born on March 28, 1935 in St. Anthony, Idaho, the son of Lawrence L. and Ethel Virginia Hathaway Rohwer. He grew up in the Ogden area.
He joined the Air Force and served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He retired after 22 years of service.
Gene married Joan Thomas on October 11, 1952 in Warren, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Joan passed away on March 25, 1998.
He worked as a civil worker for Hill Air Force Base and served as Captain of the Armed Guards at Little Mountain US Air Force facility.
Gene loved working on genealogy, woodworking, and especially spending time with his family. He loved his grandkids.
Gene is survived by his son, Rodger (Mary) Rohwer, Marriott/Slaterville; daughter, Wyvonne Rohwer Sterrett, Plain City; six grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and brothers, Dale(Janet) Rohwer and Charles (Betty) Rohwer, both of Roy.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his daughter, LeAnne; his parents, and one brother, Lawrence Rohwer.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 8, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Warren/West Warren Cemetery.
