Gene LeRoy Sanders LIBERTY - Gene LeRoy Sanders passed away at his home surrounded by his loved ones on Monday, April 9, 2012. He was born on June 27, 1928 in Klamath Falls, Oregon to William G. and Margaret R. Sanders. Gene was born in Oregon but spent most of his life in Liberty, Utah. On April 8, 1946, he married the love of his life, Dorothy Willard in Liberty. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. They were married for 66 wonderful years.
He was a Gold Card Member of the PRCA Rodeo where he was a steer wrestler in his earlier years. In his later years, he enjoyed attending the rodeos whether it was going with his children or watching his grandchildren. Gene was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. His family always came first. He was always there to support his family. Gene was a gentleman. Dad was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Gene is survived by his wife; sons, Richard (Judy) of Harrisville and Larry (Lynette) of West Haven; daughter, Kim (Craig) Wolverton of Farr West; son-in-law, John McFarland; 11 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; brothers, G. Dee (Beverly) of Oregon and Walter of Ogden; and sister, Naomi (Larry) Lindstrom of Boise, Idaho.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Gerie McFarland; parents; great-grandson, Colby Shane; and brother, Richard.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Access Hospice, especially the loving care that Bonnie and Natalie gave to dad.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 13, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd. Friends may visit family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Liberty Cemetery.
