Gene T. Wayment
WARREN – Gene Thomas Wayment, 68, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 15, 2008 in Ogden.
He was born July 25, 1939 in Ogden, a son of Chester T. and Thelma Thomas Wayment. He graduated from Weber High School. He excelled in all sports and was awarded The Gold Watch.
Gene married Diane Meibos on June 24, 1960 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They raised their family in Warren.
He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many callings within the church.
Gene worked at the Ogden Egg Company for six years and then became a dairy farmer. He also drove a school bus for Weber County School District for 30 years.
He enjoyed coaching all his sons in baseball. He also loved fishing and hunting with his family. Gene was an avid reader and also loved traveling with his family, going all over the country to watch his son Kory play baseball. He seldom missed his children and grandchildren’s games.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Diane, of Warren; daughter, Laurie (Steve) Hales, sons, Brent (Suzanne) Wayment, Lyle Wayment, J. Linn (Michelle) Wayment, Kory (Witney) Wayment; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandsons.
Also surviving are four sisters, June Orton, Connie Rhees, Lorna (Carl) Barker, Mildred (Robert) Bird, sister-in-law, Jenae Wayment and brother-in-law, Sterlin Hollingshead.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his brother, William, two sisters, Marjorie and Helen, and three brothers-in-law, Eldon, Jay and John.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the West Warren Ward Chapel, 5900 West 856 North, with Bishop Doug Hall officiating.
Friends may call at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd., on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday at the Ward Chapel 9:30 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Warren Cemetery.
