Our loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Gene Niven Yearsley, 79, passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2013. He was born on March 6, 1934 to Vernal E. and Sadie I. Slater Yearsley in Ogden, Utah.
Gene married Donna Verlene Alexander on June 20, 1955 in Elko Nevada. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on January 20, 1958. They settled in North Ogden where they resided for 45 years. They spent a couple of years enjoying St. George before coming back to North Ogden. Gene and Donna spent 58 wonderful years together.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as the Secretary of the Elder''s Quorum and High Priest Group Leadership.
Gene worked for Utah Power and Light Co. for 32 years and also worked 40 years as a loan office with UP&L Credit Union.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time with the family.
Gene is survived by his wife, Donna A. Yearsley, North Ogden; sons, Kent (Sherice) Yearsley, Plain City; and Scott (Julie) Yearsley, Farr West; daughters, Dana Charlton, St. George; and Shauna (William) Call, Bothwell; 18 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren with one on the way, brother, Kenneth G. Yearsley both of Ogden ; and sister, Shirley M. Endo, Clinton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Harold Vernal Yearsley.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Ben Lomond Cememtery, North Ogden.
We would like to give special appreciation to the staff at Our House in Tremonton, Utah and to hospice and home care nurses, Meliss, Gabby, and Jordan for loving care of our dad.
