Geneva Ione Dumford Ator
FARMINGTON – Geneva Ione Dumford Ator, age 94, passed away Monday, July 7, 2014, at Country Care Assisted Living Center in Farmington, Utah.
She was born June 10, 1920 in Quincy, Adams, Illinois to Harry Alan and Anna Fauntene (Huckstep) Dumford. She had two sisters, Dorothy Milliron (deceased) and Charlene Morris of Quincy, IL; and one brother, Harry Dumford (deceased).
She married Norman Ray Ator, January 13, 1940 in Shelbina, MO. They moved to Galesburg, IL; where Norman was employed by the Chicago Burlington and Quincy Railroad. They had two sons, Bradford Norman (Gloria), Farmington, UT and Boyce Alan (deceased) (Linda) and two daughters, Carolyn Diane Bell (Keith), Rapid City, SD mission, and Marilyn Dee (Jim) Heck, Park City, UT.
As a convert she was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She was a graduate of Quincy High School and Gem City Business College.
She was employed by the First Galesburg Bank and Trust Company, where she worked for almost 18 years. After Norman retired, they moved to Farmington, Utah in 1979. She was then employed by the First Interstate Bank of Utah where she retired in 1985.
Geneva enjoyed playing the piano, quilting, working all kinds of puzzles, reading and spectator sports, (BYU and Jazz).
She was preceded in death by her husband, son Boyce Alan, grandson, Clark Brenton Ator, and son-in-law, Dayrel Kay Lemmon.
She has many cousins, nieces, nephews, 16 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 14, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Farmington Steed Creek Chapel, 347 So. 200 W. Friends may visit family Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Farmington City Cemetery.
