Our loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Genevieve “Jean” Dittenhauser, 88, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2017 in Ogden. She was born on August 1, 1928 in Buffalo, NY, a daughter of Simon Peter and Anna Batog.

Genevieve grew up in Buffalo, New York, where she married John Louis Dittenhauser on October 15, 1955. Together they had two sons and a daughter. In 2007, they relocated to Harrisville, Utah. John preceded her in death in June of 2012.

Genevieve’s favorite activities were reading and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Roman Catholic Church.

Genevieve is survived by her sons, Michael John (Beverly) Dittenhauser of Richland, WA and John Mark (Jonellyn) Dittenhauser of Hartsville, SC; and daughter, Carol Ann (Russ) George of Pleasant View, UT; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; brothers- and sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John; parents, Simon Peter and Anna Batog; sisters, Sophie Cimmerer and Elizabeth Woz.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, July 7, 2017 at 11 am at St. James the Just Catholic Church, 495 North Harrison Blvd, Ogden.

Interment Services will be held for both John and Genevieve on Friday, August 4, 2017 at 2 p.m. at St. Adalbert Cemetery Chapel, 6200 Broadway, Lancaster, NY, where military honors will be accorded for John.  Utah services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
