Kathi Geniel Goodin Waddoups

September 12, 1963 ~ June 23, 2021

Kathi Geniel Goodin Waddoups, 57, of West Point, Utah, passed away unexpectedly on June 23, 2021. Geniel was born September 12, 1963, to Charles Orval and Kathryne Goodin in Reserve, New Mexico.

After graduating from Reserve High School in 1981, she went on to study accounting at Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho. She then moved to Salt Lake City, Utah and worked for many years in accounting and insurance.

She met Anson Call Waddoups in 1986 on Valentine’s Day while watching Casablanca. They started dating a few months later and continued watching movies throughout the years. On December 20, 1988, they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. Geniel was preceded in death by her father and sister, Becky Aragon. She is survived by her husband, Anson, her mother, five brothers (Chuck, Nelson, Marcor, Tony, and Curtis), four sisters (Joy, Denise, Marriette, and Jennilee), and was aunt to over 50 nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and -nephews.

Many knew her as Geni (yes, the magical kind!). For her nieces and nephews, she would often turn an ordinary day into a grand adventure, a simple lunch into a royal tea party, or a car ride into a flight on a magic carpet. The twinkle in her eye and her warm smile made those around her feel loved and special, even if they had just barely met. Geni was very talented and never did anything half-heartedly. She had a way with words and could make up a song on the spot or a poem for most any occasion. When it came to crafting, Geni was in her element. She loved the feel and smell of paper and was always looking for new ways to create with it. Sewing and crocheting were some of her specialties and she was always creating something for someone she loved. She truly had a gift for storytelling. Not a kid around could resist falling asleep when she pulled out The Sleep Book. People and events came alive when Geni told their stories. As hard as it is to be without her in our lives, this isn’t goodbye, only see ya later. We love you, Geni. Geniel’s husband Anson shared these thoughts: “I lost my dear sweetheart, the love of my life, this week. She will be missed, but we have the knowledge of life everlasting where we shall see loved ones again. I have many cherished memories. Family and friends have shared memories, too. Thank you for the kind words, expressions, and thoughts you have shared.”

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 2, 2021 at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. The family will meet with friends Thursday, July1st from to 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.

Due to the number of nieces and nephews that cannot be vaccinated, masks are required.
