Genine Stander Hale
February 9, 1930 ~ May 23, 2018
Genine Stander Hale, 88, passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2018. She was born on February 9, 1930, in Thomas, Idaho, the daughter of Howard Alvin and Minnie Elzada Talbot Stander. Genine graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1948 and met the love of her life, Wilford Hale, at a dance the following summer.
Genine attended BYU and graduated from Ricks College in 1951 with an Associate Degree. She taught her first year of school and when Wilford returned from his mission, they were married for time and all eternity on July 30, 1952, in the Idaho Falls Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Genine was a master seamstress and used her talents to make clothing, quilts, and works of art for her beloved family; she also spent many hours making toys for the patients at Primary Children’s Hospital.
As a child Genine learned the value of hard work on her parents’ potato and dairy farm in Thomas, Idaho. Her work ethic was a blessing for her family and for those around her as she became a teacher, raised a family, fulfilled many church callings, and later served an LDS mission with her husband in the Canary Islands. Genine loved her precious family, her greatest accomplishment, and was an active and cherished part of their lives until the very end.
Genine is survived by her husband, Wilford; children, Kimbal Wilford (Becky) Hale, Spencer Stander (Crystal) Hale, Barton Talbot Hale, and Amy Hale Knight; 17 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Verola Green, Carma (Roy) Yancey, Dr. Klint Stander, and Marvely (Keith) Grover. Genine was preceded in death by her angel daughter, Lorie and her parents, Howard and Elzada.
