Georgann Debra Shupe
November 23, 1953 ~ February 28, 2018
Georgann Debra Shupe, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend departed from her earthly life on Wednesday, February 28, 2018. We know that she has finally found peace and no longer struggles with the physical limitations of this life.
Georgann was born on November 23, 1953 in Southern California. During High School, she moved to Utah, where she met the love of her life and husband, Timothy Neil Shupe.
Tim and Georgann married on September 30, 1972 and were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on August 19, 1978. They experienced many happy years raising their five children while living in West Valley City and Farr West, Utah.
Georgann believed that motherhood was the greatest gift she’d been given. She filled her children’s lives with love, learning, and bedtime stories from her imagination. She made her children feel special by giving the heroes and fairies of her stories the attributes and characteristics of her kids.
She enjoyed the creative outlets of crocheting and writing. She delighted in sharing her gifts and talents with everyone she knew. Her determination led her to achieve a Bachelor’s Degree in Child and Family Studies at Weber State University. Georgann loved service and selflessly gave her time to others. She spent countless hours as a confidant and friend, and served many others in the PTA, Young Women’s, Primary, Seminary, and Relief Society.
Together with Tim, they served in the LDS Ogden Temple from December 2003 through February 2007, until a stroke prevented her from continuing. Tim has been her loving caregiver for her final years, making it possible for her to stay in the home she loved. The family wishes to express thanks to the many women who visited her daily, and to the many children in the ward and neighborhood that brought brightness into her days by reading to her and making her pictures. She lovingly posted them on her bedroom door. A special thanks is also given to the staff at Hearts for Home Health for their unwavering compassion and willingness to serve.
“Grief, I’ve learned, is really love. It’s all the love you want to give but cannot give. The more you loved someone, the more you grieve. All of that unspent love gathers up in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat and that hollow part of your chest. Grief is just love with no place to go.” –Jamie Anderson
We will forever love and miss you, Mom!
Georgann is survived by her husband Tim, her five children, Tim (Misti), Josh (Michelle), Meagan (Steve), Katie (Jason), and Greta, her sisters Joann and Kathleen, and her 11 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Anna Reavis.
