George Leslie Cavanaugh

George Leslie Cavanaugh, age 86, passed peacefully on May 12, 2013, surrounded by his family. He was born on January 1, 1927 to James Patrick and Lucia Janet "Nettie" Barr Cavanaugh. He was a twin and middle child with eleven siblings. Originally, a rancher and farm boy of South Dakota, he became an entrepreneur when he and his wife started Mrs. Cavanaugh''s Candies in Gettysburg, South Dakota in 1964.

He met Anna Marie Bastian while attending BYU and they were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on February 17, 1961. They raised four daughters and a son. They moved from South Dakota to Utah in 1972 when then Elder Ezra Taft Benson suggested their chocolates would do well in Utah.

George is survived by his wife, Marie; four daughters, Carla (Billy) Spencer, Lorraine (Brian) Tennant, Colene (Mike) Wall, Genise (Greg) Martin; 1 son, Calvin; 24 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and six siblings.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the North Ogden 16th Ward Chapel, 205 East Elberta Dr. Friends may visit with family on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd. and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Interment, Lakeview Memorial Estates, Bountiful.
