George “Alan” Clifton, 77, passed away peacefully on the morning of Thursday, March 27, 2025. He was born on January 22, 1948, in Ogden, Utah, the son of Harold and Myrtle Riley Clifton. Alan grew up in Washington Terrace and graduated from Bonneville High School.
He worked as a mechanic at Snow Basin Ski Resort and Hilltop Lanes Bowling Alley.
Alan was a baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
In his 20s he enjoyed “cruising the Vard” in Ogden, in his brand-new Plymouth 440GTX and thought it was the fastest car. He then bought a brand new ’69 Chevelle SS396; that was his favorite car to “cruise the Vard” in. He would take his nieces and nephews cruising with him. Alan would host youth activities and dances at the Washington Terrace Recreation Center. He also enjoyed bowling.
Alan is survived by his sons, Brandon “Boo” and Thaddeus “Bud”; daughter, Jennifer; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Joyce Petersen; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Blaine; and sisters, Francine and Colleen.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
