NORTH OGDEN a€" George Mills Cowan, Jr., 74, died Sunday, February 10, 2008 at McKay-Dee Hospital of natural causes.

He was born September 25, 1933 in Roswell, New Mexico, a son of George Mills Sr. and Iva Grace Rockhold Cowan.

George married his wife Yvette in France.

He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and traveled the world during his military service. He then settled in Ogden.

George retired from Hill Air Force Base following many years of service as a quality assurance specialist.

George served as a Boy Scout leader. He enjoyed prospecting, woodworking and photography. George loved animals, especially birds.

Surviving are his wife of Ogden; one son and one daughter, Jean Yves M. Cowan, North Ogden; Jeni Lou (Lewis) Munez, Los Angeles, CA; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Also surviving are three sisters, Anne Gravelle and Nancy Armstrong, both of Roswell, NM; and his twin, Kathy Haley, Modesto, CA.

George was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd.

Family will meet friends at the mortuary on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.

Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Salvation Army.
