George Larson

George Duane Larson, 90, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 5, 2014, at his home. He was born April 11, 1924 in Jasper, Minnesota, the son of Christian and Doris Larson. He married Phyllis Winegar and together they had three children: Jeff (Nancy) Larson, Tom (Leslie) Larson and Carol (Don) Summers. They later divorced.

He was proud to have served in the United States Navy.

On December 31, 1973 he married his soul mate and love of his life, Shirley Arlene Young Owen.

George retired from Boeing in 1986 where he worked as a carpenter/maintenance man.  They loved their home and living in Kent, Washington, but returned to Utah in to be close to family.  He was a member of VFW and the Eagles. He enjoyed over the years, bowling, fishing, gardening and his passion for woodworking; making many beautiful handcrafted, animals, scenery, pictures and plaques. His craftsmanship was flawless and he took great pride in his work.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; step children, Patsi (Jack) Miller, Mary Lou (Dennis) Richardson, Shirlee (John) Saunders, and Kathy Anthon (Gehrig). He had many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; too many to name but loved them all. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Muriel Price; stepsons, Melvin Lee Owen, Jr., and Michael Berdayne Owen; son-in-law, Dennis Gehrig and granddaughter Molly.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Thursday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Lindquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.

Special thanks to the caring people at Chancellor Gardens Assisted Living, and for Emily, Alex and Nicole from Simbii Home Healthcare and Hospice for their compassion, companionship and caring during the last little while. What wonderful friends they have become to the family in such a short time. Thank so much for all your help and support. Special thanks to Grandson, Jeffery Anthon, for all the haircuts, overnight stays, and all the help to make things easier. Grandpa loved you and appreciated you very much.
