George Samuel Eriksson

George Samuel Eriksson having fulfilled his mortal probation here upon earth, returned peacefully to his Heavenly Father on Monday, July 14, 2008 in his sleep.

George was born at home in Clearfield on August 28, 1941, to Erik Teadore and Mary Hadfield Eriksson. He was the third of three children. George was a wonderful son, brother, uncle, friend, daddy, grandfather and husband. He spent his entire life in Clearfield and attended schools in Davis County. He married Lelia Raylene Chamberlain for time and all eternity on November 8, 1963 in the Salt Lake Temple. This union was blessed with two beautiful daughters.

George served his country proudly and diligently during the Vietnam Conflict from 1966 to 1968. He was very proud to be a U.S. Marine rifleman and fought for the "Title of Liberty", to protect his family and country. He was a loving and generous man who loved many. He always provided a listening ear and an open hand to those less fortunate then he was. George truly had a testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

George worked and retired from Hill Air Force Base, Clearfield Fire Department and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

George is survived by his wife Lelia Raylene, two daughters, Jamie Lynn (Ryan) Greenwood of Sandy, and Kimberly (Chris) Casey of Clearfield; four grandchildren, Payton McKay and Makayla Greenwood, Vern and Tuula May Casey, his brother, Ted and Kay Eriksson, and sister, Irene Kirkman. George was preceded in death by his father, mother and sister June Eriksson.
