George H. Whetton
“Just George”
MORGAN – George H. Whetton died Saturday, April 10, 2010 following surgery to correct a aortic aneurysm.
He was born July 13, 1935 to Samuel Whetton Jr. and Emily Potter Whetton. He attended Ogden City schools graduating from Ogden High School in 1954.
George served in the U.S. Navy from 1954 to 1959. Two of those years were spent in Atsugi Japan.
George married Alice Murdock on Sept. 16, 1960 in Ogden Utah. They were married 29 years before divorcing. They remained good friends.
He retired from Hill Air Force Base in 1995 where he was employed as a photographer for over 30 years. George later worked for Morgan County where he made many lasting friendships.
Surviving are his daughters; Stacy (Kyle) Bosgieter, Suzanne Weaver and five grandchildren; Kylie Whetton, Gage Bosgieter, Jenna Bosgieter, Mason Weaver and Chase Weaver.
Also surviving are his sister LaVon Swords and his friend Reita Love.
Preceding him in death were his parents, son, Steven “Weez” Whetton and his ex-wife Alice Whetton.
The family wishes to thank all of his many friends in Morgan, especially his friends at the Morgan County Senior Citizen Center, and his many Mountain Man friends that took such good care of him at rendezvous. The family would also like to express deep gratitude for the amazing nursing and respiratory therapy staff at The Intermountain Medical Center TICU in Murray. God bless you, Thomas, Stacie, Mary Ann, Chris, Tiffany, Maggie, Russ, Cody’s mom and any others who’s names we may have forgotten for the professional and compassionate care you gave to our father and to us.
A gathering of friends and family will be held Saturday, April 17, 2010 from 12 to 3 p.m. at the Morgan County Justice Court, 48 West Young Street, Morgan, Utah.
One of George’s greatest pleasures was picking up the tab for a meal, so in lieu of flowers please take a friend or loved one out to dinner.
