George C. Goupios

George C. Goupios, 84, passed away on Monday, October 26, 2015. He was born on January 16, 1931 in Nafpaktos, Greece to Haralabos and Helen Haros Goupios.
He married Effie Goupios on November 2, 1958 in Athens.
George attended the University of Athens and received a degree in Political Science and International Law. He worked as a Liason Officer for the Greek, British, and American Air Forces. He was also the Greek Representative for the NATO Alliance.
He was elected as a Senator in Greece, but abandoned his position so he could bring his family to the United States to offer his sons the best possible education opportunities.
He taught Modern Greek and the Legal System at Weber State.
He enjoyed hunting birds and fishing. He loved helping and teaching people, he would always say, “I give because I have, I have because I give.
George is survived by his wife Effie; sons, Robert (Rochelle) and Peter; grandchild, Georgie; and brother, Gus. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 31, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Greek Orthodox Church of Transfiguration, 674 42nd Street. Friends and family may visit on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. with Trisagion Service at 7:00 pm. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd.
