Bob was raised and schooled in Custer and graduated from Custer High School Class of 1953. Shortly before graduation, he enlisted in the South Dakota National Guard. He then served in the USMC during the Korean War and was honorably discharged as a Lance Corporal in December of 1956. He married his sweetheart, Carol Ann Kennedy on December 21, 1957 and they enjoyed nearly 56 years as best friends. They began raising their four children together in Igloo, South Dakota where the Black Hills Army Depot was. They moved to Roy, Utah in 1965, then Sunset in 1971, and back to Roy in 2006. Carol joined the US Army Reserve in 1974 and by 1981 the entire family was serving in the military together. That legacy of service has continued to bless our Nation until the present time.
George and Carol have attended St. Mary Catholic Church since 1965, holding several positions, George as a member and later President of the Men’s Club.
