George F. Heindel

George F. Heindel, 66, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 15, 2014. He was born to George E. and June E. Daggett Heindel on June 16, 1947 in Westfield, PA. He was raised and educated in Hummelstown, PA, graduating from Lower Dauphin High School. He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War and remained in the Navy Reserves for three years.
He married Ida Lynn Davis on April 20, 1966 in Preston, Idaho. They later divorced. He married RaNae Williams Higley on December 29, 1972 in Sunset, Utah. They celebrated 41 years of marriage in December.
George worked and retired from US West as a Drafting Engineer.
He was a member of the Methodist church. He was a member of Sons of the Arizona Pioneers.
George loved to putter around. He enjoyed golfing and bowling. He loved to paint and was very talented. George and RaNae enjoyed traveling around the country in their motor home. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.
George is survived by his loving wife, RaNae Heindel of Roy; children, Chad F. (Tionna) Heindel of Roy; Ida Ann Sutton of Roy; Bret Higley of Ogden; Bruce (Dixie) Higley of Plain City; Kevin (Tammy) Higley of Hooper; and Sandra (Bobbi) Higley of West Haven; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Hugh (Shiela) Heindel; and sister, Joan Heindel (Bill) Dawes.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Thursday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to help with expenses.
