Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend George Marlin Herrmann passed away peacefully at home in the early hours of December 1, 2024. He was born October 27, 1937, in Los Angeles, California. George was the second of two boys born to Ellen Millett Herrmann and William Herrmann.
After high school, George served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the North German Mission. He then joined the U.S. Army being stationed in Korea and earned his degree in computer science from California State University, Los Angeles. A short week after returning stateside from Korea. He married the love of his life, Launa Rae Heap, in the St. George Temple on September 8, 1962.
George and Launa began their married life in Arlington, Virginia, later returning to Los Angeles to raise their family and finally to Centerville and Bountiful, Utah. He worked as a computer systems analyst by day at the University of Utah and as a respected and talented photographer by night.
George was a faithful, lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and he provided many years of faithful service in the Church. He served an additional three missions in Central Europe with his wife supporting family history and church history.
George was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Carl and his sisters Trudy and Evelyn. He is survived by his wife, Launa, his sons Mark (Mariam) and Eric, (Valori), ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 4th, 2024 at 11:00 am, at the Centerville Cemetery, 600 East 400 South, Centerville Utah.
