SOUTH OGDEN a€" George Benson Holbrook, died Saturday, November 7, 2009 at Mountain Ridge Assisted Living Center.

He was born November 3, 1919, in Logan, a son of Robert Sweeten and Kinnie Benson Holbrook.

George married Norma Mowrey on May 26, 1941 in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Salt Lake Temple. After 58 years of marriage, Norma preceded George in death on November 5, 1999.

He graduated from West High School in Salt Lake City in 1936. He served with the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946.

George began working for the federal government in 1941 at Hill Air Force Base, retiring after 30 years of service in May of 1971.

His interests including fishing, camping, hunting, golfing and especially spending time with his family.

An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, he was unable to attend because of declining health problems. He served in bishoprics, Young Men and many other callings.

He and his wife traveled extensively until her death. He lived in the Ogden and Roy areas since 1954.

His children are Carol Ann(Roy) Bosley, Ogden; Richard Holbrook, Roy; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., with Bishop Norman Erekson officiating.

Friends may call at the mortuary on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.

Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd., where Military Honors will be accorded.

The family expresses special thanks to Applegate Hospice for their kind and loving care of George, especially Kelly and Jean. Very special thanks to everyone at Mountain Ridge Assisted Living. We couldn''t have asked for more.
