George Dee Kartchner

Our Father, Grandfather, and Friend, George Dee Kartchner, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2013. He was born on August 1, 1924 in Ogden, Utah a son of Orrin Karl and Margaret Ellen Laws Kartchner.

On October 5, 1949, George married Duella Thompson in the Salt Lake LDS Temple and celebrated 57 years of marriage before her death in 2008.

He served in the Navy during WWII.

George was always snow plowing his neighbor''s driveways. This was a source of joy for him. He worked at Hill Air Force Base as a Civilian where he made several close friends.

Surviving are his son and three daughters, Jay (Sharon) Kartchner, Taylor; Janiel Dennis, Farr West; Maurine (Bruce) Ferre, Riverdale; SueAnn (Kyle) Munk, Plain City; 14 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Duella, 2 brothers, 2 sisters, son-in-law, Jerry Dennis, and grandson, Curtis Ferre.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2013, at 3 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Saturday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.

The family is so grateful for all those who cared for and loved George, especially Reed and LaRee Hill and his nurse Heidi from IHC Hospice.

He will be greatly missed.
