George Walker Kirkpatrick

George Walker Kirkpatrick, 87, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2017 at the George Wahlen Veterans Home of Alzheimer Disease.   He was born April 1, 1930 to Alvin Neeley Kirkpatrick and Virginia Caroline Roddey.  He married Shirley Jean McEntire.  They had four children and were later divorced.  George retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years.  He also worked for FFA for 10 years and later Mervyns.

He married Roxie Lovelace Chittenden on March 17, 1976 in Elko, Nevada.  They have been happily married for 41 years.  He was a member of the Roy Elks Lodge.  His favorite hobby was golfing until he could not any longer.

He is survived by his wife Roxie, his children Stephanie Starrett Lihue, Ha; Cynthia Hoskins (Dennis), Kaysville, UT; Michael Kirkpatrick (Marilyn), No. Las Vegas, NV; Martin Kirkpatrick (JaNette), Las Vegas, NV; step-son Raymond Chittenden (Christine), Olla, WA; sister Francis Ann Roberts, FL; 17 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents and two sisters Mary Ward and Anne Rogers.

Dad went to Barrington Place in West Point for about two months.  He then transferred over to George Wahlen Veterans Home, Ogden in July, with Bristol Hospice caring for him the last three weeks.  The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and CNA’s for the tender love and care he received.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.  Friends may visit family Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
