George William Lepas

January 5, 1924 ~ February 26, 2016

After years of poor health and increasing weakness, Dad passed away peacefully at the age of 92.  He worked at Hill Air Force Base; his car knew the way after driving the same route for 45 years (who says we need Google cars!)  In his youth, he loved to ski and instilled that love to his two children, Trina (Dan) and Nick, who in turn taught George’s grandchildren to ski. He liked to drive and drive and drive on frequent family vacations, as we saw the Grand Canyon from the car window.  He often took his nephews with us on trips.

Later in life, Dad LOVED his recliner (first by choice, later by necessity), watching old Westerns, and of course, going out to eat.  He had many friends at local restaurants that he frequented every day since Mom’s death.

He was a loving and generous Grandpa to Elise, Michael and Domenico.  He outlived most everyone, his wife, Ida Poce; sisters, Elaine (George) Chaus; and Katherine (Blaine) Thorsted.  George is survived by his two kids, three grandchildren, and seven nephews with whom he had a close relationship.

In memory of George, watch an old western; and have ‘no regrets’ in life.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.  Friends may visit with family on Saturday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary.  Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.  A reception will follow.
