George Miller

George Cottam Miller was born in Chicago, IL and raised in the wonderful environment of Beaver, UT with his older brother and best friend, Bill (Elretta). During those Depression and war years Dave, (Lois, Linda) and Gwen (Wendell) came to join the family and they all worked together to help care for each other, all the while enjoying an idyllic childhood.

He loved and served his Savior, Jesus Christ all of his life including a mission to Brazil in his youth and two additional missions with his sweetheart, Dolores, to Bristol England and Melbourne Australia. They further loved their years serving in the Ogden temple.

George served the country he loves in Korea and returned to marry Dolores. He then completed his education at the University of Utah, which had been started at BYU years earlier. He was hired by the JC Penney company where he spent over 37 years with them in a number of interesting positions and locations.

During those years he became the proud father of six. Melanie (James), Leslie (Rand), Douglas (Laite), Andrea (Dan), Rex (Linda), and Jason (Jennie).  He was always grateful that these children were gracious in supporting him in his career and the places it took us. From the six children his posterity has grown to 30 grands, and 52 greats (and counting) who brought him sweet joy. How he loved little people!

George loved work. He was always looking to help people in some way.

George loved athletics from the beginning and continued until his body just refused to cooperate any longer.

We are happy he is now reunited with his parents George C. and Catherine Matheson Miller, his brother David K, and angel baby Emmaline.

Heartfelt thanks and forever love to Horizon Home Health and George E Wahlen Ogden Veterans Home. The journey would have been so much harder without you.

If you desire to do something in George’s memory, then do as he did – find a way to quietly step in and give a helping hand.
