George Montoya

April 26, 1952 — December 26, 2020

George M Montoya

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away on Dec. 26, 2020 from complications to Covid-19.  He was born to Cecilia Martinez and Vincent Montoya in Chama, NM on April 26, 1952.  He grew up in Stockton, Utah with 3 brothers and 6 sisters whom he loved and adored.  He married Blanca Campos on July 31, 1971.

A convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, their marriage was later solemnized in the Bern, Switzerland Temple.  He was a faithful priesthood holder until his death.  He was soft spoken, gentle and kind to all. He showed his love for others and the Savior through his service.  He was always available to help fix or repair anything for anyone at any time. In his spare time, he loved to golf and golfing gave him treasured time to spend with friends and family. He loved his country and was a proud Vietnam Veteran in the United States Air Force.  He also served in Desert Storm and was a true patriot.  He bled blue as evidenced by his favorite teams, the Dodgers, Utah Jazz and was an avid fan of the BYU Cougars.

He is survived by his wife Blanca and their two children, Aaron and Jared (Amy).  He is also survived by all 6 of his sisters, Francis Montoya, Ellie Abeyta, Montsey (Frank) Salamanca, Patsy (Donald) Jones, Mary (Gilbert) Maestas and Angela (Raymond) Garcia as well as sister-in-laws Joyce, Esther, and Josie, and 8 grandchildren, Caleb (Kadee) Arave, Ammon (Lexi) Taylor, Adam and Aubrey Taylor, Elizabeth, Joseph and Sarah Montoya and 1 great grandson Tate Taylor.  He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Jim, Don, and Tommy, a great granddaughter Gemma Arave, and 2 grandchildren, William and Leah with whom he spent countless hours tending to them and who we feel met him with welcome arms into the Spirit world. He will be greatly missed by so many that loved him so much.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, December 31, 2020 at the Woods Cross 15th Ward Chapel, 1478 W. 2175 S. where family and friends will gather from 9:00 -9:45 am prior to service.  Interment Lakeview Memorial Cemetery, Bountiful, Utah.  Covid-19 restrictions to be observed.  Services will be live-streamed by scrolling to the bottom of George’s obituary page.
