George Roger Nalder
LAYTON a" G. Roger Nalder, son of Byron Joseph and Margaret Hannah Morgan Nalder, peacefully passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2008. He was born October 25, 1929 at his pioneer Nalder grandparents'' home in Layton, UT.
Roger was reared in East Layton on the family farm helping with every phase of farming. He loved training and riding horses.
He was educated in the Davis School District at Layton Elementary, North Davis Junior High and Davis High, graduating in 1948. Later he was drafted in the U.S. Army where he served in France during the Korean War. His last training there was in the Bakery School learning to cook in the mess hall.
Upon returning home he worked at various jobs saving money for an LDS Church mission. He faithfully served a 2-1/2 year mission to Samoa. He attended college at Weber College and BYU. He next decided to return to Layton and resume working at farming trades and became employee at Hill Air Force Base. Active in church, Roger served as Assistant Scoutmaster and Patrol Leader in the Layton Third Ward and as a Priesthood teacher.
Early in the year of 1963, Roger met his eternal dream companion, Frances June Maxwell, whom he courted very gentlemanly. They found they had many common interests and were married in the Salt Lake Temple on April 10, 1964. To this union came three blessed, wonderful children: Jason Roger Nalder, April Dawn Nalder Berger and Sterling Maxwell Nalder. Frances passed away February 21, 1981. He is survived by his children Jason R. Nalder (Tammie), April Dawn Nalder Berger, and Sterling Maxwell Nalder. He also has five loving beautiful grandchildren whom he chierished: Jack, Maxwell and Joe Berger and Amber and BreAnn Nalder. He is also survived by four brothers, one sister and their families: Bruce J. Nalder (Jeannie), Leland R. Nalder (Dee), Ned N. Nalder, Berny T. Nalder (Ila), and Margaret N. Nilsen (Sigurd).
Preceded in death by two brothers, William N. Nalder and Lewis M. Nalder who both died serving in WW II.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 7, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends and family may call Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery where military honors will be accorded.
