George Folkman Palmer

George Folkman Palmer, 85, passed away on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born on July 7, 1932 in Ogden, Utah, to George Lyle and Josephine Folkman Palmer and grew up in Ogden.  He attended Weber College, served in the Army, and then in September 1954, married Karen McKay in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. George and Karen moved with their family to Bothell, WA, Littleton, CO, and Placentia, CA; before retiring to South Jordan, UT. Recently, George and Karen settled in Colorado Springs to be closer to their family.

George was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served faithfully in two bishoprics, in the Jordan River Temple Presidency, and served with Karen on a Service Mission at the LDS Conference Center. George also served as a Temple Sealer where he had the privilege of sealing six of his grandchildren and a niece.

He was a small business owner, a milkman for Weber Dairy, and a salesman for Continental Bakery, before starting his 20-year career at WM Wrigley Co., after which he owned a Mr. Mini Blind Franchise until he retired.

His family was always #1 and enjoyed woodworking, yard work, traveling, and long car rides.

George is survived by his wife of 63 years, Karen; daughters, Debra West (Jeffrey) of Chandler, AZ and Melanie McAllister (Karl) of Colorado Springs, CO; son, Mark Palmer (Susan) of Colorado Springs, CO; 17 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren with another on the way; and brother, Gary Palmer of Lehi, UT. He was preceded in death by his parents, G. Lyle and Josephine Palmer; daughter, Pamela Randall (Charles); and siblings, Junior Lyle Palmer, Wayne Palmer, Mary Lou Hassell, and Linda McClure.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd, Ogden, UT 84401. Friends may visit with family on Saturday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment will be at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
