George Elmer Parker, PhD
ROY a" George Elmer Parker died suddenly on Wednesday morning February 20, 2008 of a heart attack.
He was born September 27, 1931 in Ogden, Utah to Elmer Henry and Ella Marie Anderson Parker. He attended school in Ogden graduating from Ogden High School in 1949.
George married Donna Meacham on February 28, 1951 in the Logan LDS Temple.
In 1952, he left Ogden to serve with the U.S. Air Force in Korea. After his service in the military, he built a home for his family in Roy with his father, and lived there for the remainder of his life. He continued his education receiving an Associate Degree from Weber State, a BS, MS, and a PhD in electrical engineering from the University of Utah. He worked at Hill Air Force Base for the 1954th Radar Evaluation Squadron retiring in 1987 following many years of service.
George was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was active as a Boy Scout Leader in the Roy 4th Ward. He enjoyed going to Scout Camp each year with the boys and attended the 1973 National Scout Jamboree as a leader with several boys from the area.
He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and skiing with family members. He was an accomplished electrical engineer, carpenter, electrician, mechanic and he could fix anything. George loved his family and was always there when they needed him. He was proud of his children and grandchildren''s scouting accomplishments: four Eagle Scouts, two Girl Scout Silver Awards, and one Girl Scout Gold Award. He was also proud of their careers and educational accomplishments.
Surviving are his wife, one son, Alan (Adele) Parker, West Haven; three daughters, Linda (Robert) Garner, Ogden; Julie (Marc) Rose, Henderson, NV; Michele (Brian) Webb, West Haven; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Steven Parker, and his parents.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Friends may call at the mortuary on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
