George Clayton Rackham, Jr.

George Clayton Rackham, Jr., 64, recently of North Salt Lake, passed away of natural causes at his home on Wednesday morning, March 29, 2023.

George was born in Hawthorne, California on May 11, 1958, to Dortha Helen Payne and George Clayton Rackham, Sr., the youngest of their four children. His older sisters, Pamela and Vickie passed away before his birth, and George was raised with his older sister, Leslie. He attended Valley View Elementary, Oak Hills Elementary, and LJ Muir Elementary; South Davis Jr. High School, and graduated from Bountiful High School in 1976. He attended Weber State and U of U. George’s parents preceded him in death in 2006 and 2001, respectively.

He worked for over 40 years at L3 Harris, most recently as a Contracts Manager, and was well respected and had many friends there. He also worked for Bountiful Ridge Golf Course. He was a volunteer Utah Jazz Referee.

George had many great personal qualities, including his infectious laugh and smile, his happy spirit, compassion for others and his amazing work ethic. He will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family.  Of all of his hobbies, George truly loved the game of golf.

George is survived by his sons, Clayton J. Rackham and Cameron J. Rackham, both of North Salt Lake; by his sister, Leslie (Kirk) Danzer, of Ferron, Utah; and by his former spouse, Jeanne Elayne Rackham, also of North Salt Lake; as well as by his nieces and nephews, and too many close friends to count.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 7, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit family on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.

Private interment services will follow at family request.

The family wishes to thank the staff of North Salt Lake Fire Department for their heroic efforts, and Dr. Chad McBride and his staff for their thoughtful ongoing care of our Dad.
